Buhay Coke ng Bloggers Party

Alex and Anson at the Buhay Coke
ng Bloggers Party

So I was at the Buhay Coke ng Bloggers Party at SM Hypermart. I went with Alex, Anson and Valerie. It was actually my first time to attend a bloggers party, and, like Diane, I wasn’t able to meet other bloggers. Because I was too shy and we had to leave early because of Alex.

I didn’t expect that many people to attend the party, I guess I just sort of clammed up. I saw bloggers in groups already and, for some reason, I got too chicken to introduce myself. Besides I was caught up with so many instances of sticker-on-hair. Mermaid hair + Coke Zero sticker on chest = a few less hair strands.

Anyway I will be attending the bloggers party by Pond’s this coming Friday. And I will not leave until I meet at least 10 bloggers.

And for photos…

Terrible Week, Horrible Person

Last week was terrible.

First, I had no helper. I was up to my neck with chores. Now they are quite easy to do but definitely not with a toddler running around and climbing on chairs and tables and sneaking out while I’m washing the dishes. Thank goodness my home is gated.

Then there was Frank, the typhoon. I was awake the entire Saturday night until early Sunday morning because the wind was howling like mad and it was just Alex and me at home. Then the electricity went out around 3am and things got even scarier.

Of course the stress caught up on me and I was the biggest bitch last week. Having no helper was bad enough, then I went down with fever and flu a few days before the typhoon hit, then there was this incident I’d much rather forget involving annoying characters from my past.

It was an awful, awful week and I became terribly demanding and insensitive. I can take the title of HRH The Queen Bitch with my behavior last week.

I was very hard on the two people I love most.

And Mommy is very sorry.

A Month in the Country

This monologue is from Ivan Turgenev’s play, A Month in the Country.

an excerpt from the play A Month in the Country, by Ivan Turgenev, as performed by Xee Momma.

To be able to listen to the monologue, you need the latest Flash plugin for your browser.

download the mp3

The plot of A Month in the Country is pretty much a mirror image of that of Turgenev’s novel First Love, [...] Verochka is a seventeen year old orphan who lives with Natalya Petrovna, her guardian Natalya has recently appointed a new tutor for her own son, the student Belyaev, and Verochka develops a crush on him as Natalya desires to make him her lover. The mainspring of the play is Natalya’s attempts to manipulate those around her to get her desires, and this includes trying to arrange a marriage between her ward and their neighbour, an unpreposessing, unromantic man in his late forties. Her machinations eventually cause the desctruction of the lives around her.

Simon Mcleish

The monologue is by the character Natalya. I had been able to relate to the character on her issues with unrequited love. That, in itself, is painful. So the first time I read the monologue, I was disarmed.

The following is a transcription of the monologue.

The only possible way in which I can hope to regain your respect — and my own– is to be perfectly frank. Besides, as we shall never see each other again — this is the last time I shal ever speak to you. She was telling the truth. I love you.

From the very first day, I loved you; though it was only yesterday that I was fully awayre of it.

* * *

One thing–please understand that it is pride, and pride only, that gives me the courage to tell you this; the farce of pretending revolted me to the marrow — and I have been desperately anxious to wipe from your mind this picture of a tyrannical, cunning creature — anxious that the memory of me which you take away, shall not be — to vile — I was jealous of her and I took advantage of my authority — it was all despicably unworthy of me, and we’ll leave it at that. I have only one excuse, that I was in the power of something I knew nothing of. You have nothing to say — But then I do understand why, I do: for a man to have to listen to a declaration of love from a woman to whom he is indifferent — there can be nothing more painful, I am even more greateful for your silence. You must feel intensely uncomfortable even in my presence — you have my permission to leave it at once, without formality — It seems that we two were never destined to know each other. Goodbye for ever.

Yael and Yan Yuzon Auction Off Personal Items

Addendum: According to Wella, there will also be another fund raising event on July 5, 2008 at 19East. Sponge Cola, Archipelago, Join the Club, and Hansom are some of the performers. Sana makapunta kayo! - 15:12 22 06 2008

There is an auction currently going on for the benefit of Isa Garcia, son of Pupil drummer Wendell Garcia. The seven-month-old Isa is suffering from severe pneumonia.

For Isa’s benefit, Sponge Cola vocalist Yael Yuzon is auctioning off his trucker cap. An Animax bullcap signed by Yan Yuzon and Archipelago are also included in the items being auctioned.

Other band items are also available. I have my eye on Dok Sergio’s Fedora Hat, which was used in the music videos Must Have and Dianetic.

Visit pupilcity’s ebay page for more items.

Hat tip: wellarakista!

For questions and clarifications on the auction as well as the 19East fund raising event, you may want to contact Pupil manager Day Cabuhat or Sue Lim, the one in-charge of the auctions at suie17babe@gmail.com.

Without a Nanny, Day 3

It’s the end of Day 3 and so far Alex and I are doing fine. Well, he is. I’m not quite sure about myself.

The thing is, the the other helper, who does the chores, was supposed to be back already. But I never heard from her after we last talked around noon. So by 8pm my aunt and I got in touch with her family. It turned out she eloped with her boyfriend.

So this means that it’s going to be just Alex and I for the entire week until the nanny comes back form her vacation. This means there will be more running around after him making sure he doesn’t climb on or fall off chairs and tables and those other naughty stuff that little boys do. This means there will be more chaos and difficulty in cleaning up. I only had time to straighten up the house when he fell asleep (he didn’t have enough of his afternoon nap today, which sucked so bad).

It’s not that I’m being whiny about not having help. It’s just that I haven’t been feeling well since Sunday. Today I felt the onset of flu. I sure hope things get better tomorrow.
